Beginning this month, and running every other week, Vital Signs will run a new feature from our Office. UNC Presents Leadership Successes at the AAMC Group on Faculty Affairs/Group on Women in Medicine and Sciences Meeting
The Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development (FALD) team attended the 2019 Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) joint Group on Faculty Affairs (GFA) and Group on Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS) Annual Meeting. The Office of FALD team presented two posters.

Save the date for the School of Medicine Wellness Week to be held November 18th – 22nd. There will be a variety of events held, including a visiting professor keynote with Danielle Ofri, MD, PhD, from the NYU School of Medicine.

Get Out the Vote! School of Medicine Standing Committee Elections Launch 4/8
Each year, the UNC School of Medicine Standing Committee Elections offers faculty an opportunity to participate in medical school governance by serving on a committee as a faculty representative or simply voting in the election. This year’s election will launch on April 8th and we encourage you to vote! Please look for an email on April 8 with your personal link to the election ballot. The election will close on April 22nd.

Academy of Educators accepts 117 new members this year
Each spring, the Academy of Educators (AOE) invites SOM faculty to nominate up-and-coming faculty with a passion for teaching medical education and educational scholarship. This year, the AOE had an unprecedented number of applications – over 100 applications were received! The AOE accepted 47 faculty and 50 resident/fellow members for the 2019-2020 year.

Call for Poster Abstracts - 2019 Wellness Scholarship Expo
The UNC School of Medicine Well-Being Committee is hosting its first Wellness Scholarship Expo on November 19, 2019 to showcase the work of faculty, staff, trainees and students who are exploring innovative solutions to improve wellness at UNC. Abstracts are due by Monday, October 25, 2019 at 11:59pm (deadline extended).
