Introducing the integrated Well-Being Program
We are excited to announce a partnership between UNC Physicians, the UNC School of Medicine, and UNC Health Care to create a system-wide integrated Well-Being Program. This program, spanning across UNC Health Care’s owned hospitals, Physician Network, and the School of Medicine, will build on the various wellness programs already in place and synergize efforts to focus on the primary drivers of burnout.

New Partnership with Blue Cross NC – Blue Premier
On Tuesday, Jan. 15, UNC Health Care announced a new partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) to transform health care across the state, improve care, and lower costs for our patients in North Carolina. Blue Premier is a new value-based model of care in which Blue Cross NC and UNC Health Alliance providers are jointly responsible for better health outcomes, exceptional patient experience and lower costs. This alternative payment model is a significant step in our ​transition to Value-based care.

UNC Health Care Brand Campaign Enters Phase 2
Phase 2 of the ongoing UNC Health Care brand campaign has kicked off.

​UNC Health Care Leadership has overwhelmingly agreed to support an increase in living wage. An increase in living wage means that the minimum rate of pay at UNC Medical Center, Rex or UNC Physician Network employees working in the Triangle area, will increase to $15 per hour on July 14, 2019.

In July 2018, UNC Health Care, UNC Physicians, and the UNC School of Medicine formally launched the System-Wide Well-Being Initiative – since then, more than 5,000 employees have participated in the Well-Being Index to gauge their stress and well-being. Download and register DUO mobile app to ensure remote access to UNC Health Care applications
​​Starting in February 2018, to enhance our information security, UNC Health Care will begin requiring 'Two-Step Verification' using the DUO mobile app for Android or iOS when accessing certain UNC Health Care applications remotely (outside of UNC Health Care locations). This includes off-site access to access Citrix, Epic@UNC, Webmail, etc.

New Chatham Food Hub connects communities with access to local food during COVID-19 pandemic
The Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention and UNC Health worked with Chatham County and N.C. State Extension partners to create a one-stop food hub at Bray Park in Siler City, which includes free meals and non-perishable foods for low-income customers as well as meals for purchase from local restaurants and farmers struggling to remain solvent during the pandemic.
