Surgery Grand Rounds, Tim Sadiq, "Ulcerative Colitis: Should We Be Operating Earlier?"
Traditionally, surgery has been used as a "last resort" in the management of Ulcerative Colitis after failure of medical therapy. Despite a multitude of new expensive medications coming to market over the years the colectomy rate remains essentially unchanged. It is time to re-evaluate the role of surgery in the management of Ulcerative Colitis particularly because the disease predominately affects young people and surgery is curative.

Alert Carolina siren test - Wednesday, June 7
The University will TEST the emergency sirens and Alert Carolina System on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, between noon and 1 p.m. The University tests the sirens and messaging system regularly to make sure the equipment and notification processes work as planned.
