The UNC School of Medicine Dean’s Office, the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Gillings School of Global Public Health, and the UNC Center for Health Equity Research are pleased to invite you to the Paul A. Godley Health Equity Symposium. We will take this time to honor the life and legacy of Paul A. Godley, MD, PhD, MPP, Rush S. Dickson Distinguished Professor of Hematology/Oncology and the inaugural Vice Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at UNC SOM. We have scheduled a full day of presentations and panels on a variety of topics including our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, community partnerships, and updates from ACCLAIM graduates and Dr. Godley’s collaborators. Additionally, Otis Brawley, MD, Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Oncology and Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University will join us for a keynote address.

J. Richard Udry Distinguished Lecture: Teresa Seeman
Teresa Seeman, PhD, is Professor of Epidemiology at the Fielding School of Public Health and of Medicine in the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Trained as an epidemiologist, with post-doctoral training in neuroendocrinology, her research interests are inter-disciplinary, focusing on role of social and psychological factors in health and aging, with particular interest in elucidating the biological pathways through which such factors impact on health.
