TUG robot fleet to expand on Jan. 22
Since 2008, UNC Hospitals has utilized TUG robots in the laboratory, which make deliveries inside and outside the lab. On Jan. 22, 2018, our fleet of autonomous mobile robots will grow from 2 to 18 units. These TUG robots will assist our support services teams with delivery activities.

Vascular and cardiac surgery collaboration yields great results
Mark Farber, MD, and Thomas Caranasos, MD, joined efforts for an endovascular repair of aortic arch aneurysm involving the great vessels. This minimally invasive repair was performed as part of a physician sponsored IDE (PS-IDE) trial spearheaded by Farber. The procedure was life saving for the patient, who was not a candidate for traditional open repair.

Wake OASIS changes name to UNC Wake Encompass
Wake OASIS becomes UNC Wake Encompass effective June 1. A specialty clinic for adolescents and young adults, Wake Encompass will remain at the same address 3010 Falstaff Rd. in Raleigh and is housed with the Center’s ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) Team, the Wake STEP Clinic, and the North Carolina Psychiatric Research Center (NCPRC).

New version of General Consent for Treatment
Effective May 18, 2017, a new version of the General Consent for Treatment (GCT) for all UNC Health Care system entities and affiliates will replace all previous versions. All hard copies of the previous version should be shredded and replaced with the current version on May 18, 2017.
