Providers now have the option to integrate their Epic@UNC schedule with their Outlook calendars. From Outlook, providers can then see their appointments and cases alongside other meetings and personal events. The steps to setup this new feature are outlined in this Tip Sheet.

The new version of our Healthwise patient discharge instructions, found through the Clinical References (or References) link in the Epic@UNC chart, will be available on Tuesday, Dec. 17. This update includes 48 new patient instructions and 11 new videos.

A new provision of the STOP Act, North Carolina’s opioid prescribing law, takes effect on Jan. 1, 2020, and will require certain controlled substances to be prescribed electronically. If you already e-prescribe controlled substances or NEVER prescribe controlled medications, you can disregard this message. However, if you prescribe controlled substances but do not e-prescribe, please review the details below carefully.

CareSelect Imaging, which provides decision support when ordering advanced imaging exams (CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine/PET), is now live in Epic@UNC. To ensure compliance with updates CMS regulations that took effect on Friday, Nov. 29, multiple updates were made in Epic@UNC to ensure patients have the best information to make informed decisions about their care as they are discharged from acute care into post-acute care. There will be 9 new care plans available on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, specifically for use by staff at our SECU Hospice House UNC and Johnston. Everyone will be able to see these when searching for care plan templates but please refrain from using any care plan with ‘hospice’ in the name unless your patient is located in one of the SECU Hospice House facilities.
