Coastal Connect HIE data now available through Care Everywhere
Epic@UNC is now connected to Coastal Connect HIE (CCHIE) through the eHealthExchange, which means that UNC Health Care providers can access patient clinical documentation from CCHIE's eastern North Carolina providers through Epic@UNC's Care Everywhere platform.

Colorectal ERAS Clinical Pathway coming to Epic@UNC in late May
On May 21, UNC Health Care will implement its first Epic@UNC Clinical Pathway to support the growing Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) program. UNC Medical Center and UNC REX have been early adopters of ERAS, which provides surgical patients with better patient outcomes and shorter hospital stays.

​Tricare recently broke out coverage based on East and West territories, which caused errors in the eligibility responses that we get from Passport. To minimize errors, electronic verifications for Tricare are turned off until we have a resolution.

New ‘Activity’ Order Effective April 6 with Epic@UNC Upgrade
Starting Saturday morning, April 6, inpatient nurses and providers will see a new ‘Activity’ order (NUR304001) encompassing multiple prior Activity orders (see at the link). Following this change, when a new Activity order is written, the old/previous Activity order will be discontinued to ensure there is only one active order at a time.
