​When coverage is entered in Epic@UNC for a patient, you must correctly identify the relationship between the patient and the subscriber of the policy. Providing the correct relationship is a CMS regulatory requirement to ensure that all claims filed have accurate subscriber relationships listed. To meet this requirement the subscriber relationship on new and existing coverages must be accurate and compliant. This process is different than how some staff had been trained to enter insurance coverages in the past and existing coverages may need to be updated. Find more information here.

A new feature coming Wednesday, Jan. 10, will allow patients to instantly activate their My UNC Chart account in-person during an outpatient visit or inpatient stay.

Inpatient Providers: ‘Inpatient Consult to Clinical Ethics’ order now available
All Providers across UNC Health Care can now order an “IP Consult to Clinical Ethics.” And those Physicians on the “Clinical Ethics” group at UNC Medical Center now have a folder titled “Clinical Ethics” in the System List under ‘UNCMC Consults – Ancillary.’

Epic@UNC Validation Session #1 recap
From March 25 – 28, more than 90 meetings were held at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill as part of our Epic@UNC Validation Session #1. Thanks to the more than 1,350 people across UNC Health Care who attended these meetings to help provide feedback on our planned Epic@UNC system.

Introducing the Epic@UNC Core Team
We are proud to introduce the Core Team of 200 co-workers from across the UNC Health Care System who will lead the implementation of our Epic@UNC enterprise information system. Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 22, Core Team members will be dedicated to the Epic@UNC project for 100 percent of their working time, so we also thank the departments who have allowed colleagues to join the Core Team.
