In 2011, Ebony Lawson began working as a help desk support specialist for the ISD Department at UNC Health Care. At the time, she was a smoker. Today, thanks to help from the Tobacco Free Tar Heels Program, she is completely tobacco free.

Newton to work with DHHS shaping Medicaid reform
Warren Newton, MD, MPH, will join the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) as a senior medical advisor. In this role, Newton will help DHHS to shape Medicaid reform in the state.In consideration of these additional responsibilities, Newton will step down from his role as chair of the Department of Family Medicine.

UNC Medical Center launches new Integrated Emotional Support Program
As UNC Medical Center continues to strive towards the goal of achieving the Quadruple Aim, UNC Medical Center is launching a new Integrated Emotional Support Program for all health care professionals. This program will connect health care providers with emotional support resources following adverse patient events. All health care professionals who provide patient care or make decisions that directly impact patient outcomes can utilize the program.
