Highlighting UNC Medical Center’s Policy on Non-Discrimination Against Providers and Staff
In February, UNC Medical Center adopted a policy on non-discrimination against providers and staff. The policy reads, in part: “UNC Medical Center expects its patients to respect our providers and staff without regard to an individual's race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, genetic information, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, political affiliation, or veteran status.”

Wayfinding App Coming in 2019 for UNC Medical Center, UNC REX; Robot Mapping to Begin March 11
Later this year, a customized, mobile wayfinding app will be available to help patients, visitors and staff find their way from one end of the hospital to the other at UNC Medical Center and UNC REX Healthcare. We are partnering with a company named Gozio Health to launch this app. To have the most accurate information possible, starting March 11, Gozio Health’s staff will do a walkthrough of the hospitals.

Temporary visitor restrictions for the Newborn Critical Care Center, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit on children under 12 lifted May 8
Due to a decrease in the number of RSV cases, visitor restrictions for the Newborn Critical Care Center, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at UNC Hospitals ended on Tuesday May 8, 2018.

Child Visitor Restrictions lifted April 13
Due to a decrease in the number of influenza cases, visitor restrictions for inpatient areas and waiting rooms at UNC Hospitals (Chapel Hill and Hillsborough) will end on Friday April 13, 2018 at 12:01 a.m. Please note that due to continued circulation of RSV, restrictions remain in place for the Newborn Critical Care Center, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at UNC Hospitals.
