The "Recipient Lookup" screen was updated Sept. 13 in Epic@UNC so the "Near" field defaulted to "Home." As of Sept. 21, this default of "Home" has been removed and will no longer default in the "Near" field.

'Learning Homes' now available in Epic@UNC for many users
A “Learning Home” is a dashboard within Epic@UNC that provides quick access to educational materials specific to your role. Learning Homes are now available for inpatient/outpatient/ED providers, inpatient/ED/obstetrics nurses, NAs/HUCs/Unit Clerks, pharmacists, ancillaries (therapies, Case Management, Nutrition, etc.), and respiratory therapists.

'NONE, NONE' generic Primary Care Provider entry to be deactivated in Epic@UNC
To provide the best care and communication to our patients and referring providers and comply with Meaningful Use requirements, the "NONE, NONE" entry in the Primary Care Provider, Patient Care Team and Referring Provider fields in Epic@UNC will be deactivated on Monday, Nov. 17.

In order for UNC Health Care to adequately send complete claims for services provided, we must always include an ''onset date" in Epic@UNC. After extensive research, it was determined that the best option is to require an onset date for each appointment and encounter. On March 24, 2016, the new required onset date will appear on the Encounter Info Form.

This week, the Epic@UNC team added a new option under the "References" dropdown menu in the top-right of the Epic@UNC toolbar that makes it easy for staff to access and directly report issues to ISD through HEAT Cloud.
