The Center for Health Innovation of UNC Health Care and the UNC School of Medicine has released the request for proposal for its 2019 $50,000 Innovation Pilot Awards. All UNC School of Medicine and UNC Health Care employees from any entity are eligible to apply. Applications are due Jan. 15, 2019, and as many as four awards of up to $50,000 each will be announced in March.

2015 Call for Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science Pilot Project Proposals
The UNC SOM Center for Tobacco Regulatory Science and Lung Health P50 is funding pilot projects (up to $40,000 in direct costs). The purpose of the pilot projects is to fund new initiatives and to allow new investigators to pursue tobacco regulation research related to the effects of new and emerging tobacco products (e.g., little cigars, hookah, e-cigs, etc.) on innate defense. Pilot projects should seek to characterize the health effects of new and emerging tobacco products in an effort to inform the FDA’s tobacco regulatory practices. Please note that by law, the FDA can only fund studies that directly pertain to tobacco regulatory science, and they cannot fund research that will not inform or advise a future tobacco policy.

2017 AAAAI Foundation Faculty Development Award
The AAAAI Foundation, the charitable arm of the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology, is accepting letters of intent to support the career advancement of a junior faculty member in the specialty of asthma, allergy, and immunology. The award will be over three years and is intended to support basic and/or clinical allergy and immunology research. Award amount up to $240,000 over three years. Deadline is Sept. 1.
