Brain scans predict effectiveness of talk therapy to treat depression
UNC researchers lead first brain connectivity study pointing toward a new image-based diagnostic model – a roadmap to ensure patients receive the best treatment as quickly as possible. Gabriel S. Dichter, PhD, associate professor of psychiatry and psychology, is a senior author of the study.

Brain signs of schizophrenia found in babies
UNC researchers are the first to identify brain abnormalities in children at high risk for schizophrenia shortly after birth. The finding could lead to earlier detection of schizophrenia and enable better prevention and treatment.

Daniel Kaufer and Philip Sloane receive grants to improve Alzheimer's care
Drs. Kaufer and Sloane have been awarded a $540,000, three-year grant for a project aimed at increasing the number of doctors in North Carolina with expertise in treating patients with Alzheimer’s dementia.
