Ambulatory departments renamed in Epic@UNC Jan. 6
Effective Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, Ambulatory departments will be renamed in Epic@UNC to provide clearer, simpler names for both our employees and patients. For example, the current "UPN Chapel Hill Internal Medicine MLKJr Chapel Hill," will become "Chapel Hill Internal Medicine" beginning Jan. 6.

Ambulatory Flu 'Best Practice Advisory' effective Sept. 1
The Epic@UNC ambulatory 'Best Practice Advisory' (BPA) for influenza began firing Sept. 1 for outpatients that are overdue for influenza health maintenance.

Starting Thursday, April 21, outpatient pathology and cytology collection at clinics using Beaker will now be done in the 'Order Inquiry' activity using the 'Collect Specimens' button. Users need to click the 'Collection Details' hyperlink to enter their collection information – see step #9 as described in this tip sheet. Additionally, users can now place 'Future' orders - the hard stop for ‘Collection Date’ and ‘Collection Time’ has been removed.

Ambulatory Providers and Support Staff: Updates to method of entering external results into Health Maintenance
Effective July 22 with Go-Live #6, the Quick Abstraction option (under Quick Navigators) and the HM Results Console (in an Abstract Encounter) are being removed from Epic@UNC in order to promote accurate clinical documentation of Health Maintenance procedures and labs done outside of the UNC Health Care System.

Ambulatory Providers, Staff: Ensure patients checked-in and ‘Reason for Visit’ selected
Pre-charting, which allows ambulatory providers to get a head start on documentation for future visits, is one of the new features of the upgraded Epic@UNC. Providers can ‘pre-chart’ and then, if the patient ‘no-shows’ an appointment, the data is deleted within 30 days.
