Ambulatory staff: Outpatient Pathology/Cytology Label Printing Change
Starting Friday, Aug. 5, labels for pathology and cytology orders with a resulting agency of UNC Health Care Lab will only print after clicking the “Print Labels” button in Order Inquiry. Previously, labels would print at the time of release or if the order was placed as 'Normal.'

Patient Safety reporting through SAFE can now be accessed from a patient’s chart in Epic@UNC. If you access SAFE through the patient’s chart, you will already be logged-in to SAFE and the patient’s MRN and name fields will automatically populate once you’ve completed the required fields.

An update on issues with Dragon dictation
ISD is currently working with the vendor to resolve sporadic issues with Dragon not dictating properly into Epic@UNC. The workaround is to dictate into the Dragon dictation box and then "transfer text" into Epic@UNC.

APP Students now have access to all physician notes; Do not use ‘Advanced Practice Provider Student Note’
Advanced Practice Provider (APP) students now have access to all notes that a physician can write in Epic@UNC. However, APP students only have the ability to ‘Share’ notes. They cannot sign, pend, or send for cosign. In the near future, we will be removing the ‘APP Student Note’ type. If you have any concerns about this change, contact the ISD Service Desk at 984-974-4357.

Appointment reminder letters mailed 14 days prior to appointment date
Beginning Monday, May 16, automated appointment reminder letters to patients will be mailed 14 days prior to the scheduled appointment date. These letters were previously sent the day after the appointment was scheduled in Epic@UNC.
