Beaker Labs educational opportunities for non-lab staff (inpatient, ED, periop)
On April 16, the Epic@UNC Beaker Labs application, which is used to manage labs and specimens, will Go-Live at UNC Medical Center, UNC REX Healthcare, Chatham Hospital, and UNC Physicians Network. Prior to that date, there are many opportunities for clinicians that work outside of the lab to participate in learning activities.

Beaker Technical Dress Rehearsal begins Jan. 11
In preparation for the Epic@UNC Beaker Labs Go-Live April 16, 2016, at UNC Medical Center, Chatham Hospital, UNC REX Healthcare, and UNC Physicians Network, Technical Dress Rehearsal (TDR) teams will begin visiting units and clinics throughout January and February to confirm that all lab label printers and other equipment is ready for the Beaker Go-Live.

The New Reservation Call Information form now automatically defaults in the Reservation Navigator and should be used by users to document Date/Time Called, Caller Name/Phone number of Incoming Calls.

Soft-stops have replaced hard stops for transfer date/time in order prevent incorrect information being autopopulated on completion of transfer and not updated with the correct time the patient actually arrived on the unit. Screenshot at the link.

Beginning July 27: Generic Order Visit Type default for ambulatory, outpatient PT and OT referral orders
As of July 27, 2015, ambulatory, outpatient physical and occupational therapy referral orders will default with a generic visit type “DELETE AND SELECT CORRECT VT [1170331]”. You should delete the generic visit type and replace with the visit type used in your department when scheduling patients from referral orders. This change will apply to any order NOT scheduled by July 27, 2015.

Cadence 'Thrive After Go-Live' WebEx sessions
The Cadence Scheduling/Registration training team will host a “Thrive after Go-Live” WebEx session Wednesday, Aug. 17, for users who perform administrative non-clinical tasks in the ambulatory outpatient setting. Sessions are led by members of our training team with the goal of using Epic@UNC most efficiently.
