Scheduled Network Downtimes - Monday, Nov. 4
The first floor of the Neurosciences Hospital and the second floor of the Hillsborough Hospital will both experience downtimes between 12:30 and 2 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4. During the downtime, all wired and wireless devices (i.e. PCs, Laptops, WOWs, Capsule, EKGs, Vocera, Desk Phones, Mobile Phones using Wi-Fi, etc.) will not be able to connect to the network. Please plan to use departmental downtime procedures during this period.

​Due to an increase in the number of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases in the community, children 11 years of age and younger are prohibited from visiting the Newborn Critical Care Center, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, 5 Children’s/Intermediate Care, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and their waiting areas at UNC Hospitals effective November 4 to help ensure the safety of our patients.

UNC Medical Center has achieved the designation of “Top Performer in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality.” To maintain that designation, employee training in LGBTQ patient-centered care is required. The training is accessible through two portals for individual and self-paced training and through hosted events taking place from November through January 2020. A network downtime has been scheduled for Oct. 3 at 11 p.m. through Oct. 4 at 5 a.m. This downtime will affect devices on the network (phones, computers, WiFi, vocera, etc.) for 30 – 45 minutes. Expected start time ranges for each floor may be found here.

UNC Health Care Marks Dementia Friendly Hospitals Day with Expansion of Special Training Program
Governor Cooper proclaimed Sept. 26, 2019, as Dementia Friendly Hospitals Day in North Carolina. UNC Health Care marked the occasion by celebrating the expansion of its special training program aimed at providing better care for patients with Alzheimer’s and related dementias. UNC is the first hospital system in the state to implement this training program at multiple hospitals.

UPDATED: Neurosciences Main Corridor Closure
Beginning Oct. 7, 2019, the corridor from the front of Neurosciences to the rear loading dock will close for approximately 10 weeks due to construction of the new Emergency Transition Dept. on the ground floor. There will be no access beyond the main visitor elevators on the ground floor.
