Hurricane Irene update

As Hurricane Irene, now a category 2 hurricane, moves closer to the east coast of the U.S., please use this time to review your department and family emergency plans.

UNC Health Care will operate under normal conditions this weekend. Although the Governor has declared a state of emergency, all employees are expected to report to work as normal. Please use caution when traveling this weekend and avoid areas that are prone to flooding. Flood safety tips can be found here.

You can view the latest forecast for Hurricane Irene from the National Hurricane Center here. The Triangle could get 1 to 2 inches of rain and wind gusts up to 45 or 50 mph by Sunday. Heavy rain, wind and flooding are expected from Interstate 95 toward the coast.
