The Board of Directors established the Distinguished Volunteer Award in recognition of the important contributions volunteers have made and continue to make in the life of the institution. This year’s award will be presented to a particularly meritorious adult volunteer in April at the Volunteer Recognition Luncheon in Chapel Hill. Please submit your nominations by March 21.

The program included a talk by guest speaker Dr. Derek Greenfield, Teaching Assistant Professor of Education at NC State University, and musical selections performed by the Mulvaney Project - UNC Chapel Hill's jazz combo, United Believers in Christ from Union Baptist Church and vocalist Beverly Kain. Mary Lou de Leon Siantz, Ph.D., assistant dean of diversity and cultural affairs at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, will present her research on immigrant and migrant children at an event at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Feb. 21.
