The team provides an opportunity for health care workers to discuss the stress of traumatic incidents that may include a declared disaster, an unusual influx of trauma patients (less than disaster level), or an unusually traumatic event, in a confidential and supportive setting.
The team is made up of trained volunteer employees from many different departments throughout the Health Care System. There is a Coordinator on-call 24 hours per day, seven days per week, for 52 weeks per year to answer questions or to arrange for an intervention.
Volunteer opportunities currently exist with a new training class being offered on Feb. 16 and 17 at Durham Technical Community College. If you would like to talk with a team member about becoming a volunteer, please send an email to email@example.com or call Mark Ferdinandsen in Employee Relations at 966-2262.
