On Sunday, Jan. 9, required regulatory updates to A2K are scheduled that will take approximately two hours to complete. This outage will start at 3 p.m. and A2K should be back online at 5 p.m. The required downtime will affect Physician Order Entry, A2K and Interfaces to all external system including e-Chart, WebCIS and Labs.

UNC Health Care's 2011 Biggest Loser Challenge begins Monday, Jan. 10! All employees interested in joining the 2011 Biggest Loser Challenge are invited to sign up and weigh-in beginning Monday, Jan. 10, in the Service Response Center (basement of Memorial Hospital at the end of the same hall as GI Procedures).
The annual UNC Health Care Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. program is scheduled to take place on Friday Jan. 14, 11:45 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Children's Hospital Lobby. During his life's work, Dr. King was committed to caring about all people. This is in direct correlation with our mission here at UNC Health Care.
The Molecular Genetics Laboratory has changed the laboratory method for measuring CMV viral load in blood. As of Jan. 3, UNC Hospitals will switch to a more automated assay. This change should not substantially alter the quantitative values that are reported.

The "N.C. Children’s Promise TV" project took five N.C. Children's Hospital patients and turned them into reporters for a day during the ninth annual Children's Promise Radiothon/Telethon on Nov. 18. Joshua and sister, Ariel, talk with dad, Darrell, about how special the annual N.C. Children's Promise Radiothon/Telethon is for the Children's Hospital's patients and their families.

Our 2011 Geriatric Resource Nurse Courses will take place on May 2 - 3 and Sept. 27 - 28. This two-day course prepares nurses to function as Geriatric Resource Nurses and provide guidance and education to other nursing staff on issues relating to assessment and care of our older patients.
