New version of WebCIS released May 3
A new version of WebCIS (Version 3.0) is scheduled for release on May 3. In addition to bug fixes, the majority of changes contained in this release relate directly to requirements needed for the institution to certify all our electronic medical records applications with CCHIT (one of the certifying organizations authorized by the federal government) under the ARRA and Meaningful Use rules.

Pass-back Clocking is an OPTION that allows two or more employees to enter their Employee ID and clock code during a single call using a work phone configured to dial the Kronos Time & Attendance system upon entering *25.

The FDA has approved for use in MRI a new implantable cardiac pacemaker, Medtronic’s RevoMRI SureScan Pacing System.
Smoking banned in area between UNC Hospitals and Kenan Stadium
On Tuesday, May 3, we learned from the University that, beginning May 4, the State Fire Marshal has prohibited smoking throughout Kenan Woods (the wooded area between UNC Hospitals, Campus Health Services, and Kenan Stadium) and within 50 feet of the area surrounding Kenan Woods.

Lane closures on Manning Drive begin May 9
An eight-week construction project beginning Monday, May 9, will force the closure of two lanes of traffic on Manning Drive adjacent to the Craige Parking Deck. Through traffic will be maintained on Manning Drive, though motorists should expect some delays, particularly during rush hours, and should plan accordingly.
State Health Plan annual enrollment begins May 9
Annual enrollment for the State Health Plan (SHP) begins Monday, May 9. All employees with the SHP as their primary health coverage will be moved to the 70/30 Basic plan effective July 1. If you choose to remain on the Basic plan, no action is required unless you need to add or remove dependents. To qualify for the Standard (80/20) plan, you must complete an attestation form. Posting of sedation and surgical privileges
In our upcoming Joint Commission survey, it is highly likely that Joint Commission surveyors will ask hospital staff how Licensed Independent Practitioners’ (LIPs) sedation and surgical privileges can be verified. A new process that replaces PRDoc is in place, and LIPs’ sedation and surgical privileges can now be viewed through the Intranet.
Transfusion Medicine Services' computer downtime May 10
On Tuesday, May 10, the Transfusion Medicine Services' computer system has a scheduled downtime from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. for a system upgrade. All emergency requests and STAT orders will be handled normally, but all other orders may experience a significant delay.
