Retirement celebration for J.P. Kichak
The retirement celebration for J.P. Kichak, VP & Chief Information Officer, is scheduled from 4 – 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, in the N.C. Cancer Hospital Conference Room #1. Kichak’s last day at UNC Health Care is Sept. 30.

Max Mangos re-opens in Overlook Café
Max Mangos has re-opened in its new location at the Overlook Café on the 2nd floor of the Neurosciences Hospital. Refreshing smoothies and frozen yogurt will be available Monday - Friday from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The team in Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) at UNC Hospitals set a goal of reaching the 75th percentile in patient satisfaction surveys. The reward for reaching that goal included a chance to throw pies at the NFS management team.
SECC Kicks Off
The 2011 State Employee Combined Campaign (SECC) kicked off Monday, Sept. 26 and will run until Friday, Oct. 28. Our goals this year are 15 percent participation and more than $300,000 in contributions. All are invited to the SECC Agency Fair Friday, Sept. 30, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in Children’s Hospital lobby, to learn more about charities we can support through the SECC.
Labyrinth Dedication
All employees and the public are invited to attend the dedication of UNC Hospitals Labyrinth and Serenity Garden. The ceremony will take place at noon, Tuesday, Oct. 4 in front of the N.C. Cancer Hospital. Refreshments will be provided.

Code Medic Goes Live Monday, Oct. 3
On Monday, Oct. 3, UNC Hospitals will launch a new medical response team, Code Medic. This team will respond and provide assistance to people requiring non-emergency medical assistance in non-patient care areas.
2011 Adopt-A-Family sign-up
The Employee Engagement Team would like to celebrate this holiday season by helping UNC Health Care employees. Last year more than 70 departments/units adopted a UNC Health Care employee family. As an organization, we were able to help 69 employees! This year we would like to encourage departments and work units to continue the trend and adopt as many employee families as possible.
Policy change for visitors of patients on Contact Precautions
Beginning Oct. 1, visitors of patients who are on Contact Precautions will no longer be required to wear gloves and a gown while visiting in the Contact Precautions room. This policy change is consistent with the CDC recommendations for the control of multi-drug resistance bacteria.
