Emergency Response Drills on 9th floor Burnett Womack

On March 26, 27 and 28, at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day, the University’s Department of Environment, Health and Safety will conduct drills in response to a mock emergency on the ninth floor of Burnett-Womack.

These drills will involve multiple emergency response agencies from the University and the local community. They will be conducted in real time and involve participants in a simulated role-play of their responsibilities as emergency responders. It will require an actual response, mobilization of equipment, vehicles and other resources, including personnel.

Participants will make decisions and take appropriate actions as they would in a real emergency, testing their staffing plans, equipment, communications systems and procedures covered in their respective emergency plans and protocols.

You will see emergency vehicles outside the building and uniformed emergency personnel boarding the elevators. No action is required. No one will be asked to evacuate Burnett-Womack (or UNC Hospitals).

These drills are part of the University’s ongoing efforts to prepare and train to keep the campus community as safe as possible. Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation. If you have any question please call or email Deb Howard at 962-5722 or dmhoward@ehs.unc.edu.
