If you’ve been thinking of quitting, Thursday, Nov. 15 is a great day to start.  If you’ve tried before, Nov. 15 is the day to try again.

Tables will be set up outside the Starbucks at UNC Hospitals and in the lobby of the Family Medicine Clinic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with information on tobacco cessation and resources for those who smoke and those who want to support friends and family in quitting. A turkey from the Fresh Market will be raffled off – just in time for Thanksgiving!

For some of you, quitting may not be easy.  Fortunately, UNC provides free tobacco cessation medication and support to hospital employees. To enroll in Tobacco Free Tarheels, call Barbara Silver, 919-445-5358 or email her at tobaccofreetarheels@unc.edu.

Encourage patients, friends, and family members to quit with support from the Nicotine Dependence Program at Family Medicine, call 919-843-1521 or email ndp@med.unc.edu. Tobacco counselors will work with individuals to create a personalized quit plan.

Nov. 15 is the day to start stopping. Stopping smoking. Stopping chewing. Stopping tobacco use today, for good.
