PPD shortage causes temporary suspension of TB testing

In response to a nationwide shortage of both FDA-licensed purified protein derivative (PPD) tuberculin products, UNC Health Care will immediately suspend testing for LTBI at initial employment and routine annual testing until our current PPD-tuberculin testing product (APLISOL) becomes available (which we anticipate will be July 2013 at the earliest).
