A number of changes will take affect Feb. 25 in UNC Hospitals' cafes: Beginning Feb. 25, UNC Hospitals' patients will be able to order from a Late Night Restaurant Delivery menu; the Starbucks Cafe will be open 24 hours a day offering an extended menu; the Terrace Cafe will close each night from 9 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.; and co-workers will be able to call in orders using a Late Night Restaurant Delivery menu from midnight - 4 a.m. each night.

It is with great pleasure that we announce that our Medicine Progressive Care Unit (MPCU) has recently been awarded Gold-level Beacon Award designation by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). The MPCU joins the ranks of CTICU, CICU and SICU at UNC Hospitals as recipients of this prestigious award, and is the first of our intermediate care units to achieve this distinction.

As a volunteer, Elaine M. Hill served refreshments during the opening of the N.C. Memorial Hospital in 1952. From that day until 1990, she was active in UNC Hospitals’ volunteer program - first as a volunteer and from 1967 - 1990 as Director of Volunteer Services. What's coming up next in the Epic@UNC project?

Next week is a very big week for the Epic@UNC project. Physician overviews and executive overviews are scheduled at UNC Hospitals and Rex on Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 26 and 28. Also, an Epic@UNC “Subject Matter Expert” kickoff is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 26. Additionally, staff from Epic will be on-site at many UNC Health Care facilities for “Discovery Sessions” from Monday, Feb. 25 - Thursday, Feb. 28, to visit with our co-workers and learn how our current workflows and processes work.
