Employee Opinion Survey follow-up – more than 89% participation!

We are excited to announce that UNC Hospitals and UNC Faculty Physicians exceeded last year’s annual Employee Opinion Survey participation rate of 88% by achieving an overall organizational participation rate of 89% this year! This achievement is also especially notable considering that the total number of employees invited this year was 8,361, which is 332 more than the 8,029 who were eligible in 2012.

‘Helping Kids with Hemiplegia’ helps Peyton gain use of her hand

Each June a therapeutic summer day camp led by Holly Holland, senior pediatric occupational therapist at the N.C. Children’s Hospital, offers constraint-induced movement therapy to kids ages 3 to 10. Thanks to the work of Holland and her volunteers at ‘Helping Kids with Hemiplegia,’ children like six-year-old Peyton Wolforth of Fort Bragg are learning to use their affected limbs.

New Needlestick Hotline procedures in place starting July 1

Beginning July 1, UNC HealthLink will manage calls coming in to UNC Hospitals’ Needlestick Hotline after 4 p.m. Additionally, hospitalists will act as resources for unusual cases and will provide care and post-exposure prophylaxis in the Emergency Department for employees who have had a positive HIV blood exposure.
