Many of you know that Ian’s predecessor, Carolyn Viall Donohue, took a new role as Associate Vice President of UNC Health Care System’s Nursing Informatics. We are extremely grateful to Carolyn for her years of hard work and dedication to N.C. Children’s Hospital.

Ian completed his medical school training and MPH at UNC-Chapel Hill. He began his UNC Hospitals' career in the Performance Improvement department, where he was responsible for the Core Measures reporting initiative.

Before rejoining UNC in his current role, Ian worked for United HealthCare as a clinical executive, consulting with Fortune 50 clients on chronic disease management and behavioral health.  Ian has served as the Associate Vice President for Oncology Services at UNC since 2008, so he brings a wealth of clinical and administrative experience to this new role.

In conjunction with the Physician-in-Chief of the N.C. Children’s Hospital, Dr. Wesley Burks, Ian will be responsible for leadership of all clinical, financial and strategic operations of Children’s services. Their work together reflects the new dyad structure recommended in the N.C. Children’s strategic plan. Ian will report directly to Dr. Brian Goldstein, Chief Operating Officer of UNC Hospitals.

Please join us in welcoming Ian to the N.C. Children’s Hospital.

Sincerely,

- Wesley
