The Triangle Business Journal names Health Care Heroes each year.

Dr. John van Aalst received his award for his work with Baby Adam. Family Medicine received the award in recognition of the Department's work to bring doctors to underserved areas of the state.

This year, UNC Health Care and Rex Healthcare were honored with a total of nine finalists and five award winners. Winners at Rex included Dr. Richard Gillespie (Rising Star Award), Mike Anglin (Allied Professional Award), and Dr. James "Tift" Mann III (Lifetime Achievement Award).

Collectively, our winners and finalists represent well the excellent physicians and co-workers who care for our patients and their families each and every day and we applaud their work - congratulations to all of our health care heroes!
