This upgrade will continue at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, when ISD will migrate Rex Healthcare to the new UNC Health Care network. Due to this migration, there will be an internet outage of up to 30 minutes beginning at 7 p.m. Oct. 18 for anyone at Rex locations trying to access UNC Health Care applications. No patient care activities running on in-house systems will be affected by the 30-minute downtime.
Following this upgrade, ISD will then link other UNC Health Care locations to this new infrastructure based on the following tentative schedule:
- Friday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. – Connect the UNC Physicians Network to UNC Health Care network
- Friday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. – Connect Chatham Hospital to UNC Health Care network
During each of these upgrades, we anticipate a 30-minute outage to connectivity between the affected location (i.e., Rex on Oct. 18) to applications/email/websites hosted on the upgraded network (i.e., www.unchealthcare.org or WebCIS will be unavailable to users on the Rex network between 7 - 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18).
The result of this upgrade will be a unified UNC Health Care network that prepares all of the locations listed above for Epic@UNC and offers connectivity for colleagues using other applications at multiple UNC Health Care locations - moving forward applications available at these locations will be solely dependent on each user’s rights.
User names, logins, and passwords to current applications will not be affected by this upgrade.
In a future phase of this project, ISD will connect High Point Regional, Pardee Hospital, Caldwell Memorial, and other locations to the new UNC Health Care network. Those dates will be announced as the timeline is finalized.
