Several UNC athletes will be there to support this campaign. Football players will bring footballs to play catch with children and sign autographs.
The campaign encourages all men and women from UNC Hospitals to sign a pledge to stand up and speak out against family violence. Those who are interested in participating can sign up beforehand through our e-pledge on our website www.med.unc.edu/beacon/carolina-men-care/sign-up. On Tuesday, Oct. 22, we will be giving away Carolina Men Care T-shirts to the pledge participants.
This event will provide resources, activities and FAQs to educate healthcare providers about the seriousness of family violence. Health care providers play an important part in responding and advocating as a community to end domestic violence.
The campaign is being held during October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Our goal this year is to surpass the 450 signatures we received in 2012.
Carolina Men Care is a locally run campaign that corresponds with the international White Ribbon campaign that promotes non-violence in relationships.
