Fire alarm and sprinkler testing: Jan. 9 and Jan. 12 - 16

A quarterly inspection and test of the fire alarm systems will take place throughout the hospitals beginning Jan. 9 and running through the following week, Jan. 12 - 16. On Jan. 9, inspection and testing will also be taking place at the Imaging & Spine Center, FSB and Sanford Dialysis.

Influenza Update and Visitor Restrictions

North Carolina and UNC have reported increasing cases of confirmed influenza since Dec. 1, 2014. UNC Hospitals has reported positive influenza tests, most of which are likely Influenza A (H3N2). The H3N2 strain is more virulent than the H1N1 strain, especially at the extremes of age and for immunocompromised persons. Read about the patient care measures and the visitor restrictions (effective Monday, Dec. 22) we have put in place to help prevent the spread of the flu.

Ambulatory departments renamed in Epic@UNC Jan. 6

Effective Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, Ambulatory departments will be renamed in Epic@UNC to provide clearer, simpler names for both our employees and patients. For example, the current "UPN Chapel Hill Internal Medicine MLKJr Chapel Hill," will become "Chapel Hill Internal Medicine" beginning Jan. 6.

Chapel Hill Transit New Year’s holiday schedule reminder

Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) will run regular weekday routes and schedules on Wednesday, Dec. 31. There will be no CHT service on Thursday, Jan. 1. CHT administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1, and will reopen on Friday, Jan. 2, at 8:30 a.m.

Dialysis Unit to move to 4th Floor Bedtower on Jan. 5

The Dialysis Unit, currently located on the 3rd Floor of Memorial Hospital, will be moving to 4th Floor Bedtower on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, for the duration of the Dialysis Unit renovation. The unit is scheduled to relocate back to the 3rd Floor of Memorial Hospital in April 2015.
