Mileage Allowance decrease Jan. 1
Effective Jan. 1, 2014, the IRS will decrease the allowable mileage rate from $0.565 per mile to $0.56 per mile reflecting a decrease of $.005 per mile.

Changes to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) policy are effective Jan. 1, 2014.
ISD disk system upgrade night of Jan. 3 to cause outages to WebCIS, WebXChange paging, other systems
ISD is performing a disk system upgrade that is scheduled for 10:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 3, through approximately 2:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 4. During this time period, many applications, including WebCIS, WebXChange, WebXChange paging, and Kronos will be unavailable. Other ISD application owners will notify direct users prior to the upgrade.

Family Illness Leave policy revised
Effective Jan. 1, 2014, the Family Illness Leave (FIL) policy has been revised to match the updated FMLA policy.
Temporary visitor restrictions in place at UNC Hospitals and clinics
We are experiencing an early, active flu season – we have already had three deaths related to the flu at UNC Hospitals and have reported more than 125 positive influenza cases (most typed as A (H1N1)).
UNC men's basketball home game Jan. 8
The UNC men's basketball team plays at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, against Miami. Remember that vehicles parked in the S11s lot after 5:30 p.m. on weekday game days will be ticketed and/or towed.
REMINDER - North Carolina withholding changes; update by Jan. 7 to be effective in next payroll
The North Carolina Department of Revenue (NCDOR) recently enacted significant changes to the State’s income tax laws effective Jan. 1, 2014. The new regulations include substantial changes to the manner in which state income tax withholding is calculated.
