Shuping named Director, Professional Compliance for UNC Health Care System

Robin Shuping, RN, MHA, will join the UNC Health Care System on Aug. 4.

Margaret Dardess, PhD, JD, Interim Chief Audit and Compliance Officer, is pleased to announce Robin Shuping, RN, MHA, as the new Director of Professional Compliance for the UNC Health Care System.

In her role as Director of Professional Compliance, Shuping will assist the Chief Audit & Compliance Officer with overseeing UNC’s system-wide Professional Compliance program. She will serve as an objective reviewer and evaluator of compliance issues or concerns, and investigate and review activities for the purpose of supporting regulatory compliance. Shuping also will ensure UNC Health Care complies with all applicable laws, standards, and codes of conduct, among other duties. 

Shuping was most recently Director and ICD-10 Project Lead for Coding and Clinical Documentation Improvement at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center's Department of Quality, Performance Analytics and Strategic Initiatives. Prior to that she served as Director of Reimbursement Coding Billing Compliance at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, working closely with the Wake Forest Physicians.  

Earlier in her career, Shuping worked for three years as a staff nurse in Obstetrics & Gynecology at UNC Hospitals.

Shuping will join the UNC Health Care System on Aug. 4.
