To maintain the integrity of the Medicaid Pending coverage in Epic, the ability to add Medicaid Pending as a coverage will be restricted to only the Medicaid Eligibility Specialits (MACs) effective Monday, Nov. 10.

The Medicaid Eligibility Specialists (MACs) at each entity are responsible for reviewing self-pay accounts to determine if there is the potential for Medicaid eligibility. Upon making this determination, the Medicaid Pending coverage in Epic@UNC is added to by the MACs to indicate they are assisting the patient with their application. To maintain the integrity of the Medicaid Pending coverage in Epic, the ability to add Medicaid Pending as a coverage will be restricted to only the MACs effective Monday, Nov. 10.

The Medicaid Pending coverage will “pull down” on any subsequent visits.
