Units, Clinics to begin receiving NC HIE info packets in early October

In the next two weeks, units and clinics will begin receiving packets of materials containing information about the North Carolina Health Information Exchange (NC HIE). NC HIE is a secure, standardized electronic system in which providers can share important patient health information across North Carolina.

The package of materials you will see includes brochures providing an overview of NC HIE and opt-out forms (both available in English and Spanish). Please post the materials you receive by Nov. 1, 2014, in the lobby, check-in desk, or area where you have your first face-to-face encounters with patients.

A 5-minute LMS module regarding NCHIE (course code UNCHPRVNCHIE) will be available in LMS beginning Oct. 6. Please check your LMS "To Do List" to see if you have been assigned and are required to complete this module. If you have questions, please talk with your manager or supervisor.

Opt-out forms are also available online at www.nchie.org. Patients and providers may request forms and additional information by calling NCHIE toll free at 855-926-1042. Providers requiring additional brochure holders may order more at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JCBGJFC.
