No air conditioning on ground – 2nd floor Neurosciences Hospital evening/morning of June 11, 12

From 6 p.m. Thursday evening, June 11, to 5 a.m. Friday morning, June 12, the air handling units serving ground – 2nd floors of the Neurosciences Hospital will be turned off to allow installation of new chilled water valves serving the new Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. During these times on both dates, there will be no conditioned supply or return air to the affected areas mentioned above. Areas requiring constant conditioned air on these floors will be addressed by Plant Engineering HVAC.

Improvements to referrals workflows in Epic@UNC effective June 14; required training for clinic managers, referral coordinators

A number of improvements to the referrals process in Epic@UNC will go into effect June 14, 2015. Most notably, the priority status of referrals has been standardized across Epic@UNC, with stat orders requiring a phone call from the “referred from” department within one day and urgent orders requiring a phone call from the “referred from” department within two days.

UNC Health Care has become a leader in the state and the nation for its heart and vascular care and research. Heart and vascular services at UNC Health Care are currently undergoing a period of rapid growth, including the opening of the North Carolina Heart and Vascular Hospital at Rex in 2017. Now more than ever, a structure is needed that will continue and increase our strategic alignment of services and priorities, clinical best practices, and quality care for our patients. Landline VOIP phone system upgrade at UNC Hospitals Friday night, June 12

ISD’s Telecommunications team is installing an upgrade to the Voice Over IP (VOIP) phone system at UNC Hospitals on Friday night, June 12. Clean In, Clean Out begins year three July 1

In order to build upon the successes we have achieved over the past two years of Clean In, Clean Out, we have outlined our priorities and goals for the third year of the program, which will begin July 1. Please note that to protect our patients, we will continue our hand hygiene effort throughout June and that all future Clean In, Clean Out annual measurement periods will run from July 1 to June 30.
