Beginning Wednesday, June 3, 2015, patients with any of the following problems added to their chart via the Problem List will display a new alert on the patient banner: Critical Airway, Difficult Airway for Intubation, Difficult Airway.
The Sovera document imaging application will be down on Thursday, June 4, 2015, from 9:30 - 9:45 p.m. During this time, viewing scanned images in Epic@UNC or Sovera will be unavailable. “Scan to Sovera” and all scanning applications will be up. Documents scanned during the downtime will appear in Epic@UNC shortly after the system comes back up.
A new note type will be available for providers in Epic@UNC on June 4 called “Non-Billable H&P.” This note type is intended to be used when a History & Physical (H&P) is required, such as with a procedure, and is not charged separately.

Due to the prevalence, seriousness, and treatability of sepsis, teams from the N.C. Children’s Hospital, UNC Hospitals Emergency Department, and UNC Hospitals adult ICUs have been working together for several months on sepsis detection systems and response protocols aimed at promptly recognizing and treating sepsis and reducing mortality.

Please be aware that there will be a scheduled Point of Care (POC) interface downtime on June 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This POC downtime will affect only UNC Medical Center. POC devices will remain operational and results will queue up and then post in Epic once the system is back up. Do not manually enter results in Epic under the lab tab because results will post once the interface is up and double billing can occur. Use downtime procedures during this time period.
