What is the goal of these redesigned sites?
Our goal was to create user-friendly websites that provide patients and referring physicians with the information they need to make appointments, find information about our services, make referrals, etc. The redesigned sites feature a "responsive design,” which is a feature that automatically resizes each page so that it looks great and functions well on the various screens people use (e.g., desktop PC, laptop, smartphone, tablet, etc.).
The redesigned websites also provide a unified, consistent web-browsing experience for patients and referring physicians across the Chatham Hospital, Rex Healthcare, UNC Medical Center, and UNC Health Care sites.
What if I have bookmarks to pages at www.unchealthcare.org?
As of June 3, we are using redesigned www.unchealthcare.org to represent our network of hospitals and clinics across North Carolina. Any previously created bookmarks to pages other than the www.unchealthcare.org home page may have broken when we introduced the new www.unchealthcare.org on June 3.
Questions about the new UNC Medical Center site
- What is ‘UNC Medical Center?’
“UNC Medical Center” is a short-hand term created to refer to UNC Hospitals and its clinics, UNC Faculty Physicians’ clinics, and the UNC School of Medicine. Any locations that are a part of UNC Hospitals and its clinics (including our new Hillsborough Campus opening this summer), UNC Faculty Physicians and its clinics, or the School of Medicine are considered a part of UNC Medical Center. The new website focused on these locations is www.uncmedicalcenter.org, which is active as of June 3, 2015.
- Are there plans to rename UNC Hospitals or the individual hospitals?
UNC Hospitals and the individual hospitals that comprise it (N.C. Cancer, Children’s, Memorial, Neurosciences, and Women’s Hospitals) are all a part of UNC Medical Center along with our network of clinics affiliated with UNC Hospitals, UNC Faculty Physicians, and the UNC School of Medicine. At this time, there are no plans to rename UNC Hospitals or change the legal name of any of our other entities.
