'Perceptions of Mental Illness' winners

Annually, the UNC Hospitals Nursing Diversity Council holds a contest with a focus on a diversity topic that is explored by the Council throughout the year. This year the focus is on mental illness.

This year's contest was open to all 14- to 18-year-old volunteers and/or children of UNC Health Care employees. Participants were asked to submit an art project using the medium of their choice explaining what mental illness means to them. The UNC Hospitals Nursing Diversity Council is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s contest: 

  • 1st place, Hally Hazelwood, daughter of Monica Hicks, RN, BMT, OP Clinic 
  • 2nd place, Calior Scullin, daughter of Brigid Scullin, RN, MICU
