Operation Medicine Drop is a free community service event supported by Safe Kids Orange County and UNC Trauma Program that allows the public to safely dispose of outdated and unused prescriptions and over-the-counter medication. The process helps keep medicines out of the hands of children and out of our water supply. Medicine is disposed of properly and safely.
Good news from the sepsis care improvement initiative! Even though we are early in the implementation and training at UNC Medical Center, many patients of all ages have benefited from early recognition and treatment of sepsis.
In celebration of National Health Care Quality Week, UNC Health Care will host its annual Quality Expo on Oct. 15 – 16. This year’s theme: Cultivating our Culture of Quality. Show us what your unit or team has done this year to improve the quality of care and services at UNC Health Care by sharing your success in a poster. Poster registration will be open until Monday, Sept. 21, and completed posters are due by Monday, Oct. 5.
The next UNC football home game is Saturday, Sept. 19, at noon versus Illinois. Please plan appropriately as you travel to/from UNC Hospitals and the School of Medicine, as traffic will be heavy several hours before game time. Also, remember that certain parking lots are reserved for UNC home football games.

UNC Health Care employees are needed to teach Hands Only CPR during the 2015 NC State Fair from Oct. 15 - 25, 2015. This year, Rex and North Carolina Heart & Vascular are sponsoring the booth. We will train volunteers, so you do not have to be CPR instructors, but compression-only CPR knowledge and experience is preferred.
