Rate increase at SECU Family House

Please read this letter from Janice Ross, CHP, Director of House Operations at SECU House, about the SECU Family House rate increase effective May 2, 2016.

Dear Hospital Colleagues:

In the 8 years that SECU Family House has been serving patients and families of UNC Hospitals, our room rate has remained stable. Unfortunately, that rate no longer allows us to meet the ever increasing cost of living. The gap between our average per night, per room cost of $82 and our current rate is just not sustainable.

Effective May 2, 2016, Family House rates increase to: $45 per night for a regular room and $60 per night for a suite. We will continue to offer discounts to patients/guests who have a financial hardship, but we ask that you not promise any specific dollar amount to your patients, as the minimum acceptable rate increases, as well. Patients and/or family members should be instructed to talk with one of the House Managers at Family House in order to obtain a rate reduction due to financial hardship.

Thank you for your understanding and help in transmitting this information to your patients and their families. I also encourage you to share this letter with colleagues I may have missed. If you have any questions, please contact me via email or at 919-932-8008.
