Goodbye SARF, hello ARC
The Access Request Center (ARC) is an online access request system scheduled to replace the paper and HEAT SARF (Systems Access Request Form). ARC is rolling out in multiple phases: the first being Feb. 1 for UNC Medical Center and UNC School of Medicine, with other entities thereafter.

Care Managers’ tools in Epic@UNC redesigned
Beginning Feb. 3, Care Managers will have redesigned navigators to allow more efficient and complete documentation in Epic@UNC. Also, there are new notes/SmartText to ensure progress notes are inclusive and complete without a lot of double documentation.
Revised appointment cancellation reasons in Epic@UNC
As part of Carolina Value's Care Access initiative, beginning Tuesday, Feb. 2, Front Desk staff, Referral Coordinators, and Clinic Managers will see four new options in the “Cancellation Reasons” drop-down list when cancelling an appointment. The new cancellation reasons are: Lack of Transportation, Cancelled via Interface, Patient Seen Out of System, and Improper Patient Prep.

NPO Best Practice Advisory available Jan. 25 (Intranet link)
On Monday, Jan. 25, providers will see a new Best Practice Advisory (BPA) in Epic@UNC that will identify patients with a strict NPO dietary order when signing an order for an oral medication. The provider can choose to use the 'Cancel' button to go back to orders and amend the diet order, or change the medication route. The BPA also will notify when an oral medication is being administered to a patient with a strict NPO order.
