Blue Cross Blue Shield has made significant changes in the policy numbers for their products. When you encounter a patient who has had a policy number change, please use this tip sheet to update the patient’s registration information. The existing insurance plan should not be changed to reflect the new information!

Beginning March 1, several My UNC Chart enhancements will help engage patients in their care. Patients will now see reminders for preventive care services (Health Maintenance Due), a patient-friendly view of the Longitudinal Plan of Care, and a new tab called “My Conditions” to view their health information related to certain chronic conditions.

In the month of January alone, the UNC Health Care email gateways blocked approximately 21.5 million emails that were deemed to contain some undesirable component such as spam, malware, or scams of some nature. Despite the number of emails that were blocked, a not insignificant number of malicious emails still find their way to coworkers’ mailboxes. Read these tips to help determine if an email can pass that basic smell test.
Jami Mann, PharmD, MBA, MS, BCPS, Clinical Manager of the Central Inpatient Pharmacy, was presented with the Patriot Award on behalf of the United States Office of the Secretary of Defense. The recommendation was made by Kathy Estrada, a Central Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, currently serving on active duty.
