UNC Pediatric Antibiotic Stewardship Initiative
The UNC Newborn Critical Care Center and the Newborn Nursery have come together to implement the Perinatal Quality Collaborative of North Carolina’s Antibiotic Stewardship and Newborn Sepsis Initiative. This initiative is focused on fighting antibiotic resistance, as this concern has become one of the world’s most pressing public health problems.

Potential Shortage Alert: Multiple OR Syringe, PCA Cassette, Epidural Products
Due to some recent changes in federal regulations, our major outsourcing supplier has rationed quantities of certain medications we are able to purchase at this time as they work through FDA operational changes. The timeframe for resolution to this situation is currently unknown. To minimize the impact to patient care, we are beginning in-house production immediately.
