This presentation will describe the novel strategies implemented by the UNC Stroke and Radiology teams designed to dramatically decrease the time from patient arrival to the start of endovascular therapy. Effective January 2017, UNC Medical Center has a new Catering Policy (Admin 0279). This policy provides guidelines for using UNC Hospitals' catering services in Chapel Hill and Hillsborough, and it establishes an approval process for catering services.

To ensure the safety of our patients, children ages 11 and younger are prohibited from visiting inpatient areas and waiting rooms at UNC Hospitals beginning Monday, Jan. 23, 2017. These restrictions were previously in place for the Newborn Critical Care Center (NCCC), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit (BMTU) at UNC Hospitals.

Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, scanned referral letters from outside consultants will be routed back to the referring provider’s InBasket in the ‘Completed Orders’ folder. This change is being implemented as part of the ‘Close the Loop’ team's efforts to improve communication and coordination of care between external consultants and referring providers.
Based on the necessary security setup for Rover, the mobile app that inpatient nursing staff and respiratory therapists will use to perform review and documentation workflows in Epic@UNC, nursing students will not be able to login to Rover during their clinical rotations at UNC Medical Center (including Hillsborough Hospital) and Chatham Hospital. Any nursing student who is also a patient care tech/nursing assistant will be able to use Rover when they are working as a nursing assistant.
