Scheduling, Registration staff: Regional Workqueues continue to evolve with growth, change across UNC Health Care

In March 2018, we transitioned ambulatory referrals from Schedule Order workqueues to Referral workqueues. Part of this transition included the introduction of regional workqueues, which catch referrals where the specialty is populated but no department or provider is specified. As UNC Health Care evolves this fall (with Wayne and Nash starting on Epic@UNC, and High Point Regional leaving UNC Health Care), there will be changes to these regional workqueues.

  • Please be sure that you are checking your regional workqueue often to catch any referrals for patients who can be scheduled and seen in your department. This tip sheet can be used to determine which regional workqueues your clinic/service should be working.
  • This transition has led to a significant increase in converting referrals to appointments - thank you all for your hard work in making this a success!
  • Please contact the Care Access & Service Integration (CASI) team at CASIUNCHCS@unchealth.unc.edu with any questions.
