The 5th Annual Run for Resilience Ostomy 5k Run/Walk
The 5th Annual Run for Resilience Ostomy 5k run/walk will take place on Oct. 6, 2018 at 8:00am at Renaissance Village near Southpoint. This is a family friendly event with a kid’s run, face painting, balloon artist, DJ and silent auction. This race benefits the United Ostomy Association of America (UOAA), a 501 (3)(c) charity that supports, empowers and educates persons living with an ostomy.

Training for Upcoming Changes to Appointment Reminders
On October 2nd, the Health Care System will be replacing appointment times with arrival times on our text, phone call, and print reminders. Please join one of our training sessions to understand the operational changes. This change will allow clinics to account for the processing or wayfinding time needed that can affect an on time start of a patient’s appointment.

Fire Alarm System Testing at UNC Medical Center, beginning Sept. 4
Annual testing of the fire alarm initiation, notification and control devices will occur throughout the UNC Medical Center, from Sept. 4 until Dec. 21, 2018. Testing will begin in the Women’s and Children’s Hospitals and continue throughout UNC Medical Center.

Muse will be upgraded Wednesday, Sept. 5 and will be unavailable from 2 – 6 a.m. Please begin logging out of Muse at 1:45 a.m. During the downtime Muse will be inaccessible and EKGs performed during the downtime will need to be transmitted after 6 a.m. Learn more.

Changes to Highway 54 Shuttle Drop-Off/Pick-Up
Effective immediately, the Highway 54 Shuttle will pick-up and drop-off from the NC Cancer Hospital Manning Dr. level entrance. This route adjustment has been made to assist in reducing anticipated traffic congestion at the front of UNC Hospitals during the upcoming Surgical Tower construction project. This change will not impact S11 shuttle riders.

ISD will install a Dragon maintenance update between 1 – 3 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, during the planned Epic@UNC downtime. This update will take 5 – 7 minutes to install and will not change any functionality in Dragon.

2018 Flu Vaccine available to order in Epic@UNC; Outpatient Flu BPA starts Sept. 1
UNC Health Care has received its initial supply of influenza vaccine for the 2018-19 influenza season. The vaccines have been added to Epic@UNC and will be available for practitioners to start vaccinating patients beginning Thursday, Aug. 30. Please review the details at this page and note that the outpatient flu ‘Best Practice Advisory’ will start appearing on Saturday, Sept. 1.
