UNC Hospitals Dietitian Honored by the NC Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Kimberly Stephenson, MS, RD, CSP was named a Medical Honoree by the local Carolina’s chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for her work providing innovation and dedication in the advancement of CF research and quality of treatment and care for people living with cystic fibrosis. Stephenson has been providing medical nutrition therapy as a UNC Medical Center clinical dietitian for 20 years.

Stephenson specializes in the area of pediatric cystic fibrosis where she has lead quality improvement initiatives on nutrition intervention, increased dosing of pancreatic enzyme replacement, and increased calorie intake for infants.  These efforts are resulting in better patient outcomes from improved growth in infants which is associated with better lung function and survival in CF.

"I’ve certainly tried to do my best and I enjoy working with my families," said Stephenson. "I stay in this area because I enjoy working with these families and I enjoy seeing them succeed."
